No problem, that's what the forums are for! I am not an expert, but I like to give advice from personal experience. I would run it over to o'reily's and borrow their scanner and check for codes if you want to still do that. Keep us posted

I had a very similar problem.
Solved it yesterday by replacing spark plugs.
Every plug had discoloration where the ceramic meets the steel threaded barrel.
I had read that this is not that uncommon at and after 50k.

The most important aspect of spark plugs in the Modular Motors is their accumulated mileage and the condition of the electrodes. You don't mention your's. It would seem if that plug change "cured" your own problems they were well past needing changed.
Boots also play a big part to smooth running V10 gasoline engines, all Modular Motors in fact Some claim running these plugs to 100K and above is okay---I say they've done their intended job at 50K.
Unless the discoloration you mention is black or sooty its not uncommon nor a huge problem.
