Ive recently ran into a similar issue, I have not fixed it yet but ill tell you what happened to me..

first off I have a frX, 1st gen I think.. and installed a fuel pressure gauge on the bowl permanently and when I did this I had a rock solid 70psi... at all times that I could watch the gauge.

My orings for the drain valve started leaking, instead of trying to get just the valve out I decided to just do a full rebuild (cheaper than just a new valve anyway).300000 miles after all.. it was time.

So I go though the whole bowl, install all new seals except for the two extra that I have?? and I never new about the poppet and valve, anyway I reinstalled it after the rebuild and had ZERO pressure on the guage, truck would run great! Idle was very noisy though. I figured that some of my oring lube plugged up the gauge or hose orifices.. So I pulled it apart and made sure it was clean, reinstalled and still same thing. I pulled the filter to look around and noticed that this white thing was sticking into the filter now.. Being new I did not know what this was, so I did a little reading and found that t was the fpr poppet, so now Im confused and looked here for two days for a diagram like the one you posted!! LOL and I took it (frx off and fpr) and found that the ring that the poppet sits in was missing DOH.. I must have dropped it.. So I ordered a new setup from Clay and installed, Now I have 100PSI!!!!! changed springs and still the same thing..

Now I have not touched it since, as it is much quieter! and seems to run much better and smoother! and even starts much much better in the cold Mass winters.. SOme say to leave it, others say to fix it.. I think im going to leave it for now and see what happens to it.. I have 4 weeks and 7000 miles on it since all of this and so far I would not change a thing.. IMO all of this started with I did the new poppet kit. and to me sounds like the same thing happened to you.

Sounds like a very familiar story. My advice to you is to pick up a spare fuel pump and throw it behind the seat. My truck ran fine for a while around 100 psi also, but that was 2 fuel pumps ago.

70 deg here today and fuel pressure holds at 65 while cruising, but drops to 60 going up a hill with the cruise control on (no trailer)

LOL I think I might...

Coming from a 08 Dmax this thing is loud! so as much as I hate to say this I wont mind replacing a fuel pump once a year if it cuts the noise down a touch..

Now if I could figure out the rest of the noises Id be just peachy with this truck.. listening to it for 10-18hrs a day is making me deaf.. lol and its quieter than the few other 7.3s that I have been in.

The combination on the pusher pump and Walbro drove my pressure ot over 100 psi, even with a stock FPR and homemade CCK mod.

Are you sure about that part number? I looked it up and It says that it fits a honda civic?
