GM makes (or uses?) a one wire alternator, from what I've read, its a pretty common swap into all sorts of older vehicles. Often its used with really old vehicles that had generators, and antiquated (if any) voltage regulators. You should be able to tell if its working by testing the voltage while the truck is running.
I have one on may tractor and it works great for that but IIRC theres something about them that causes the amount of amps it can produce to drop as load increases
Alright i think I may have solved my own problem here.
On the powermaster website, it says that all you need to do is
hook up the charging wire to any positive battery source and it will charge
But like Onus said you have to rev it to 1200rpm for it to kick on.
here is the link
I was reading in other post, where pepole replaced the ip but not the injectors and
they were saying how they can stick open and dump fuel into the
cylinders, this may be the cause of my hard to start lots of white smoke, Couldnt it ?
Are the reman injectors less reliabe than the new ones? they are alot cheaper .
Ok thanks bein 15 its kin of hard to come up with $300 bucks LOL.
Does this sound like this could be my hard to start lots fo white smoke.
I thing the timing is correct on the pump, the mechanic told me he lined up all the y marks on the engine, and checked it twice and they were good, the thing that he
didnt do is replace the injectors. So we have a new pump with old injectors
Where is a good place to get the injectors and injector return line kit ?

Just lining up the marks does not mean it is timed correctly. To know what the timing is you need an instrument. The easiest is the Ferret timing adapter that clamps on the #1 injector line and senses the pulse. This timing adapter is used with a standard gas engine timing light and allows you to set the timing of the injector pump. You can also use a luminosity probe. Either method works. Bad timing can make for excess smoke due to incomplete combustion. New injectors will not hurt, having reman is fine, what you want is to have them matched so they pop open at the same pressure.
On your alternator, you can get a mid 70's Chevy truck alternator and the hook up is easy. It will be a three wire, and the cost for a rebuilt one is as cheap as it gets, around $40 give or take. Connect the large hot lug to battery + or other constant +12 volt source with a large enough wire gage (10 ga is good). Then make a small jumper from the large lug to the #2 spade terminal, it is the one farthest away from the large lug. The #1 spade is hooked to a +12 switched source. As soon as you turn ignition on, the alternator will be charging, no self-eciting higher rpm required.
