there is a reason the side of the 16.5 tire has do not mount on 16 inch rim on it.
it will come off at the worst possible time, most likely when trying to mount it.

Better look for a set of 16.5 rims to put them on. 16.5 rims are plentyful now as that tire size is becoming a thing of the past..........

Amen to that...my 35"s are on 16.5 rims...trying to find aggressive replacement tires for 2 of them that are well worn is nearly impossible...

I agree with all of the above. NOT NO BUT HELL NO!!!!! I worked at a tire store for a little while. One day I noticed this weird greyish black ring on the insulation in the ceiling directly above one of the tire machines. I asked my boss what the deal was and he told me that the previous owner had let a friend of his come in and mount a set of tires for free. Little did the guy know that his friend was planning on mounting 16.5's on 16 in rims. The tire just fell onto the rim but when he put the air to it to seat the bead the tire blew off the rim and hit the seiling blowing the guy on his arss and scaring the shat out of the owner. Needless to say DON'T DO IT!!!!!!

If you were closer to Colo I'd make you a deal on some aluminum wheels. I changed back to stock size from 33x12.50x16.5 BFG TAs...

So this guy is a MECHANIC and he thinks a 16.5" tire will work on a 16" wheel?!?!?

Not only would I not buy the tires from him, but I would find a new mechanic IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!! If he is that stupid I wouldn't trust him to do a simple oil change, much less make any actual repairs on my vehicle.
