Hey Guys I am going with a AOD behind my 5.0 in my 51 F1. Trying to figure what shifters you guys are using with your automatics on the floor???

I'm going the same route, I kind of like the pricing of the American Shifter, but may go to Lokar if the reviews on the American come in poor. I did find a store on e-bay that had Lokar product very reasonably priced, but I'd like the option of having a custom shift **** that to my knowledge Lokar does not offer.

Actually there is an adapter that allows you to run a custom **** on the Lokar shifter. Lokar sells it. Basically converts it so that you have to push the entire **** down in order to run it through the gear selections rather than pushing the button in the middle like in stock form. This adapter would allow you to run most all screw-on type *****.

There is also another option, though not very cheap, made by a company called Genie Shifter. Rather then pushing a button or **** down, the lever itself is spring loaded and you must move the lever sideways in order to move throughout the gated range. Genie Shifter has been around quite a long time, they just don't advertise nearly as much as Lokar does.

I put a Gennie in my 40 Ford Pick Up years ago, loved it. I hear they are not in business anymore and some employee's are at American.

Oh that's a bummer. I really like their shifters. Last time i saw a Genie ad was in some rat-rodder magazine and haven't seen any since. Yeah haven't heard too many good things about American Shifter thus far. Maybe they'll clean up their act before long.

lokar was great for me I originally installed a lokar transmount and e-brake for my c-6 than while i was installing my tranny back to the motor i cracked it with the impact.Bad move on my part. so than i had to go back to the junk yard to see if i could get a c-6 but no luck. I did find a aod with 62000km so i called lokar to see if they could adapt my shifter and they did send me parts i think 80 dollars cdn and included a kickdown cable . If i were doing it again i swear by lokar they have great products and are high quality. If price is not an option though they can be expensive like 250 cdn installed.that is my opinion though take care
