New chip install problem

So I got a 6-position chip and I can't get it to start when it's plugged in. The wait to start light does not go out when the key is "on"
But it starts fine after pulling the chip...

What am i missing?

How well did you clean the board?

I cleaned it well, after it wouldn't start the first time i cleaned it again, but still nothing... I can't see the back side of course, but i scrubbed it twice as much as i did on the front side just to make sure...

Did you use that scotch pad to clean the board? That can cause it. Also, tape it in there tight so it doesnt move around. Was the key turned to on when you first put the pcm back in? The directions warn against that...

Darn, they beat me to the cleaning part. Well, if none of that works, make sure the wire harness to the PCM is in there all the way.

Your chip wasn't burned correctly, it needs to be reburned. Been there, done that.

Was it a out of the box TS? Or did it have custom tunes( PHP, TW, etc)?

Which one? LOL I went through 3 different chips at a dyno day with Tyrant Diesel tunes trying to get one to work. The tunes were set up wrong. I see no reason why an out of the box TS chip couldn't have the same problem.

Sorry if this was already mentioned, I'm at work and didn't read all of the posts. Also I apologize for stating something so simple, as I'm sure it was checked - with my TS chip the security setting will not allow the truck to start and the WTS light will stay on. Did you click it to a different setting?

That setting works well when a girl friend wants to drive your rig. You tell her she can drive if she can start it. So far she has not figured it out.
