Sorry if this was already mentioned, I'm at work and didn't read all of the posts. Also I apologize for stating something so simple, as I'm sure it was checked - with my TS chip the security setting will not allow the truck to start and the WTS light will stay on. Did you click it to a different setting?
That setting works well when a girl friend wants to drive your rig. You tell her she can drive if she can start it. So far she has not figured it out.
I cleaned it well, after it wouldn't start the first time i cleaned it again, but still nothing... I can't see the back side of course, but i scrubbed it twice as much as i did on the front side just to make sure...
Dont take it personal lol, thats just Cody. He's like me in that we lack the filter in between our brain and mouth. But he is right, like Mike and he said, to do it right it needs to be out of the truck. If you scrubbed without being able to see the contacts you may have been scrubing something you shouldnt've.
Still no worky with the stupid thingy plugged in...
Ok, well after many attempts, i still can't get the dang thing to work. What a PITA. I have used paint thinner, rubbed and rubbed, scraped off the surfaces with a small screwdriver, and scrubbed with a scotchbrite pad until the copper is showing on every terminal.
I would spend more time on it but I need the truck! I guess the next step is to remove the cover from the box, and check continuity from the chip to the computer board...

You may have over cleaned the contacts. I don't think there should be any exposed copper. My reasoning is that copper is very corrosive and only makes a good contact for a short time before corrosion starts in the contact areas. What I have experienced is the board traces and surface mount pads and thru hole eyelets all get soldered after parts are loaded on the board, usually done in mass production running the boards over a solder wave machine, coating the usually nickle or copper traces with solder. So I would assume the manufacturer of the chip coats the contact area with a coating or something that needs to be removed for good contact during installation. They really should send good instruction on how to do this installation process.
The pictures you took look really nice, if you could take some good close up pics of the contact areas you cleaned (both sides of the board) we may be able to see if there is any damage done to the contact areas.
