Sorry guys for not being on her for so long been super busy. anyway i posted a thread a while ago about this problem I have been having. Basicly everytime i turn my wiper blades on intermediate. (first click) truck dies on me. Ive read that the cps needs to be changed did that. It does it rain, snow and in sunshine and after it does it four or five times the ses light comes on. when its raining sometimes it will jerk back like hitting a brick wall for a second and keep going. what ive read is that it could be something with the wiper motor giving off a em signal that is messing with the reading of the cps. people also told me that water was getting into the connection of the cps and to put die grease on it did that. whats my next step should i replace the wiper motor. wouldnt it still be messing up if i did that? im very confused and needs suggestions. please and thank you
I will be checking for codes. havent yet scanners are expensive. I replaced the cps with a aftermarket one from napa. With the ground wire would it be on the wiper motor or would it be somewhere close to the wiper motor i havent taken the cowl off yet. will do that soon once the rain stops. Should i get a cps from ford themselves i had one from ford and it was still doing it thats why i replaced the cps in the first place. whats the best place to get a cps anyone know? thanks for the help
Trace the wiring from the wiper motor to the ground location on the firewall, remove the ground wire and clean the wire connector and the mounting point. while you are at it would be a good time to clean all of the ground connections to the body, there several on the on the left fender near the fuse panel and head lights. Check the battery grounds also.
Is the CPS that you had orginally a Ford one? Change the NAPA one to one from Ford or IH.
If this doesn not take care of it then go on to the grounds, which is a good peventative maintenence thing to do any way.
Do you have a tuner or any type of chip on the truck?
My new cps from Ford did the same thing right off the bat. Check with the suppliers on here, but I used the one from international part #1876735c91 and it took care of the problem. Good luck.
