I have a buddy that has an 84 150 4x4 with a 4sdOD. He had some pinging issues now it needs a short block. He found an 87 150 with a bent frame that has 10k on a new long block. He was thinking about putting a 4bbl intake and 4100 autolite carb on it. I know when swapping the 87 motor over to v-belts the water pump needs to be swapped along with the dizzy too.
But is there any specific 4100 to look for?
And does the stock timing set retard the timing like they did with the 460's? If so what timing set should I look for.
And with shorty headers is there still any way to run an automatic choke? If not whats the best manual choke setup?
