Simple straight forward question... Anyone have info on how to remove the tow hooks from a F250 4X4? I'd take it to the dealer but who knows how much they will charge. I plan to add the Hella 220's where the hooks are.
After removing the tow hooks be sure to install new bolts in their place. I can't tell you how many times I have seen SDs with replacement bumpers without the tow hook bolts. These bolts do not just hold the tow hooks in place, they are structural components. These are 3 of the 7 bolts which hold the spring hangers to the frame.
I had to remove the bumper to get mine off. You may have to do the same. I cannot remember what got in my way...
Plus, Overkill is dead right. Make sure you replace the tow hook bolts with strong bolts. You'll need nuts and lockwashers too, as the orginal bolts thread through the hooks.
FWIW, I drilled a holes in the bumper support thing (you'll see that it is attached to the bumper when you remove it) to mount my Hella 550s. it was obviously much easier to do that with the bumper removed.
Monsta, Do you like the 550's. The 220's I am wanting to install will cover up the hook opening almost completly. Do you like the 550's and are they bright?
I'm also planning to install a custom enclosed lightbar in the next week or so and will have pics posted.

The 550 are very bright! They use an H3 bulb so upgrades would be easy. They fill out the opening quite well, too.
I am not familiar with the 220s. I got these 550s off ebay for $40; brand new.
