Im not too sure about what is best but i do know that Rancho and Bilstein make good shocks im also looking into this as i will need new ones soon as well. i was thinking about going with the Rancho 9000's and that myride controller but im not sure how i feel about that im still debating between the two brands.
Iv'e had my 01 since new and plan on owning it for another 10 years if not longer so I opted for bilstien 7100 shocks at all for corners. These are a 100% owner rebuildable shock and can take a gas charge up to 225psi. I think I paid $125 each for my 7100's and that was almost 7 years ago, I need to have the charge in mine topped off but they are still strong and not leaking any oil. I expect they have probably dropped down to about 150psi and will ride like new once I get them back up to 200psi. I opted for the standard body 7100 shocks but they are also available with a remote resivoir.

Really? How do you get them topped off? I didn't know there was such a thing as rebuildable shocks (havnt researched shocks much) but I wouldn't mind putting the money out for ones that can be fixed over and over.
The shock body has a schrader valve near the top mount. to recharge you attach a fiting from a helium tank. Bilstien sells a rebuild kit for the 7100's and I think they charge somewhere around $25 each.
I supose the cost of rebuilding seems high compared to the cost of new 5100's but the performance of the 7100's is supposed to be better and the 7100's have to ability of recharging the gas as it depleats over time, which is a cheap fix to get new performing high end shocks (my guy charges $20 to recharge all four shocks).
I have been tempted by the 7000MTs many times. However with them being so new no one has them yet.
I worked out a deal with an online retailer and they are sending me a set for free so I can use them and review them. I think they are comparable to the Bilstein 5100 series.

You have no idea how excited I am to try these. My shocks are terrible.. They were shocks that came with the lift kit I have.
These 7000s look to be exactly what I need.
