Axle questions

First off what the toque spec for a sterling 10.25 pinion nut? Second, whats weight gear oil do yall use in your rear and front ends. I got 80-90. Thinks thats good? and do add anything to the rear or front for limited slip?

If you have limited slip you need the additive in the rear. 80/90 should be fine, I used 75w140 synthetic in both.

Not sure on the torque number

There is no torque spec for the pinion nut. You have to tighten it until the crush sleeve begins to collapse then tighten slowly till you have the proper pinion bearing preload. You can't reuse the crush sleeve, you need a new one.

Pinion Brg. Preload In. Lbs 16-29 (New bearings)
Pinion Brg. Preload In. Lbs 8-14 (Used bearings)

Yeah, you'll be way above that trying to get the crush sleeve to collapse. I used a pipe wrench to hold the pinion yoke and let it rest on the ground so that I didn't have to hold it, then used a 1ft 3/4" breaker bar with a 2ft pipe on the end and it still took everything I had to tighten it. Once the crush sleeve begins to collapse, the pinion preload will go up very fast, so go slow. If you over tighten it, you have to get a new crush sleeve and start over.
