My body aches after watching that. I went down on a GSXR750 when I was 15 (that's right, 15). I was driving carefully around the neighborhood on my buddies older brothers bike. I hit some loose gravel on a corner and went down (wearing shorts!). I still remember the nurses using some brush thing to get the gravel out of my knees. LESSON LEARNED!!! Bike really didn't have any damage at all but man I felt like crap. I learned to worship two wheel driving from that point on. I have seen some horrible wrecks as an LEO. Especially in a State with a no-helmet law. Just gruesome.
Been down a few time on the track (full gear of course).
Never on the street.
Watched my buddy get killed on the hiway when we were out being dumb one time many years ago. Couple of guys got a little too close, one went down.
I only ever took the GSXR out to the track after that.
Really, that is what those bike are for!
LEO's didn't like my front wheel in the air through downtown Calgary much anyway
I do for sure. I also would come up and drive the crap out of yours
I have another dilemma/weakness that is coming out soon........ Ducati 1199 Panigale 2012 - HQ video - YouTube
To the tune of 196HP and a tad over 350 lbs for the highest power to weight ratio.........
Sweet looking bike...I know you already know how uncomfortable the Ducati's are...they definitely would not be the bike to ride any long distance...not to mention all the weight on your wrists all day long!
I remember you telling me the story about your buddy, very sad.
One wheel riding will get you in front of a Judge here and more than likely a suspension on your DL which brings me to a funny story......
I was sitting at a light a few years ago, in a MARKED SQUAD CAR with full lights etc. A knucklehead RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME pulls a wheelie down on the of the busiest streets in the city IN DAYLIGHT. I looked at a couple sitting in a car next to me that were laughing and watching me laugh. I clicked on the lights and sirens and he immediately puled over. I had to sit for a few minutes to gain my composure and let him sweat a bit 18 or 19 years old and no motorcycle endorsement on his DL). It was quite hilarious. You would not believe the things people do right in front of you in a marked car.

You take a Ducati out to do the deed for a bit and put it back in the garage. Not a bike for lengthy travels at all.

Holy cow dude, are you sure you were not working in Calgary? I did the EXACT same thing. Had a TL100R at the time which was an absolute wheely machine. Sitting up at a red light on the bike you can't see the mirrors (righ behind you). Looked all around but not right behind me. LEO was GREAT, he could not stop laughing. Said it was too stupid to give a ticket for.
I was nice to the kid because a physical domestic came out and I was in the same area and the closest officer. I'm sure he will never forget meeting me

LOL I am sure he won't forget. It would be nice to have more cool LEO's out there like you. In my experience...all the motorcycle LEO's have no mercy.
An amazing sound for sure. When I bought my first Ducati out of Wilmington NC, the dealer was right next to a Harley dealer and I owned both. So convenient. Closest Ducati dealer to me is in Springfield (Halls, and they said March delivery as well a few minutes ago) or Team MCC Chicago.

The first thing you have to remember doing this job is it is just that. Never take anything personal yadi yadi and leave work at work and don't bring it home or talk about it at home period. Being nice to people has saved me on at least one occasion. A fight call at a bar with a HUGE dude. He started to come towards me aggressively (he would not have gotten far as we had several officers on scene) and his friend stopped him, remembering me from a call a while ago where I took care of him. The entire scenario deescalated because of his friend remembering me and me trying to help this drunken idiot. It does not always work this way (hence the shoulder surgery from helping a female officer getting battered by a drunken idiot).
