Gary did we ever get confirmation that your truck does indeed have the NP 208? Reading through this thread all of the sudden has me second guessing. It maybe could be the 203 or the 435.
If by "your truck" you mean Rusty, no we haven't. But Dad's truck has the NP208.
Also, the link you posted doesn't work for me. I get "Oops! The page was not found at the specified address."

Well Dad's Truck or either one. Was there anything in particular on the T case that identified it as the NP 208 or was that still the best guess we had?
Thank you Curtis/Chris for repairing the link. The link has some great info on it . Nevermind the meathead on the last page with the same screen name as me. He sounded like a real rookie. I will probably have to sue him in civil court for using my screen name in such tater headed application.

Best guess. Couldn't see the tag that I can on Dad's that says NP208. Looks like it is under a lot of goo. We'll find out when I get Dad's going again. (IOW, when I quit dillydallying about which drain method to use in the rear axle.)
My 84 250 has the 1345, you can tell the difference between the 1345 and the 1356, buy looking at the tailshaft housing, if its removeable with a slip yoke is a 1356. The rear yoke on the 1345 is held on with a nut.
Thanks for the pictures, but I know it isn't the BW1356. I have one of those hanging off the back of the ZF5 that's sitting in the bed of Dad's truck, and the one on Rusty is not as big as that. Not nearly.
I know that the one actually in Dad's truck is a 208 since it says it is. And the one in Rusty looks very similar, but I haven't had them side-by-side to compare. And, since one is fairly clean and the other is a grease ball, even side-by-side comparisons aren't easy.
As said, I plan to put a clutch in Rusty when I get Dad's truck back on the road, so will find out then what the t-case actually is.
I have the BW1345, it is in my 1986 F350 behind a T19. Mine looks different because I have the GV overdrive, and in order for it to mount up to that T-case GV had to supply a whole different rear case. I've been thinking about a ZF swap, and found out that even though ZF's were fitted to the 1356's they will also mate up to the 1345's no problem. I like the 1345's 2.74X Lo gear.
So 1986 F350 was one application, but I am really starting to wonder about my truck. The sterling 10.25 axle has "92" painted on it, the D60 front axel is the ball joint type (used kingpins 1985-1991, then ball joints in 1992...) the T19 has a short shift lever and modern looking **** that is unlike any of the other 1980-86 manual transmission shifters I've seen... what the heck? starting to wonder if someone pulled a body swap on it or did a major drive train switcheroo... oh, and the 6.9L looks like the online pics of the 7.3's with the slanted oil filler. Has the POS old style GP relay though. Cream of ford N' warner soup with a dash of Dana Spicer!
Thats intersting F834. Everything you mentioned is good tough quality parts though. The Sterling 10.25 is a good stout axle. I cant help , but , wonder myself if they were using it back then. Before the 10.25 they used the Dana 60 out back. Someone could have needed a new axle and p/u'd that one at a salvage. Then the front axle raises questions too. I am sure if the truck had a salvage title you would have known about that. Maybe someone did do a cab swap on it.
