Hey guys....I've searched until I am blue in the face. I got a 1977 F150 351m/C6/NP208(so I was told, tag is gone), DANA 44 front and Ford 9in rear. It has been awhile since I messed with these style trucks. I remember the front drive-shaft having a CV joint (double cardamon) from past trucks. Well the one I picked up had the front driveshaft out. I pulled it from the box of parts lastnight and started the clean and rebuild with new ujoints and fresh paint. It doesn't have the CV joint though. Am I crazy or is it missing? Do some applications not have the joint? I also have suspensions that the shaft isnt factory. On the male part of the slip joint I can tell its been cut down (shortened).
Two more things....on the female side of the shaft there is threads....did this use to have a socket that would hold a seal? Also having trouble remembering which end of the driveshaft goes to axle and to xfer case. Ie...which end is the slip suppose to be towards?
