Anyone in here electrical savvy? I have an issue with my data link connector on my 2000 f150 XLT, 4.6L
I ran an OBD2 scanner several times on this truck before I took in to the transmission shop. I had one code and it worked fine. While at the shop, negotiations broke down over their labor rate and I elected to pull my truck out. I paid tow and diagnostics to the shop.
Now at home, I tried to scan the truck again because the service rep told me they pulled a code for an EVAP leak, but now my scanner is not communicating with the DLC. Usually I don't need to turn on the scanner, just plug it, turn ignition to on position, and reads the code. Now I get nothing.
What could have happened in the shop that now my scanner has no communication with the DLC?
what I've done so far(from what little I know):
-the scanner is fine, new batteries and also I scanned another car, and it worked fine.
-I checked all the fuses under the hood. I don't know what I might have missed.
Anyone out there that can help, please do. I really need your help. ....Thanks
Cigar lighter fuse also powers pin 16 of the OBDII connector.
x2 Anything that is OBD2 (that is 1998 and up) the DLC is always powered by the cigarette lighter fuse, which is in the cab on that truck. I forget what # it is, but I seem to remember it was a 20 amp.

I thought it was 30 AMP. Owner's manual will show it.
Check the connector where the scanner connects for loose wires, possibly a wire pushed out the back. Also check the ground connection form the wire it the connector to the ground. I had a bad ground from the connector to the frame and it took me like 6 days to figure it out. Good luck.
