What brand exhaust brake do you have installed? The Banks Brake is pretty noisy when the pump first turns on and it seems to quiet down once the pressure(or vacuum??) builds up inside the diaphram.
To be honest with you it was put on as part of the Fontaine Package at ford and I have not been able to ever get a spec list on the truck from dealer. It was working fine last time we pulled trailer went to use it and sounds like maybe bad bushings?. We pull a (3) horse 41' trailer so its a bit of weight.
System is PACBRAKE, Looked into to it further and found that the small compressor is not shutting off. So I guess I will be using a lot of soapy water and verifying air leaks before ordering new compressor or switch. The truck had not been maintained very well by owner and possibly it is air leaks. Looked on their web site for compressors and the show newer model I appreciate the response, I have another issue with the truck and thats that the air bag system keeps the drivers side lower. Had a Pete once that was set this way. Do you think they went that far with the Fontaine Package?

I'd be surprised but I suppose it's possible. Do you have separate lines to each bag in the rear? Most Fontaines that I've seen are air over spring with some sort of sub frame that hinges at a fixed point just forward of the rear bumper. My F450 has a system from Kelderman and both bags are inflated/deflated by the same line with a T connection. Here is a link in case your truck is the air over spring type. 2WD & 4WD 2-Bag Rear KLM16650 - F-350/450/550 (1999 & newer) Ford - Kelderman Air Ride Suspension Technology
If your leaf springs are gone in favor of a four link type system than I suppose it would be fairly easy to control each bag separately. What do your in-cab controls look like? Do you have a gauge and up/down buttons for each bag?
You'll like this, as far as the pacbrake I'm an idiot. Got lazy I guess, pacbrake has a great web site with tech tips. Found the air leaks and all fixed.
The air bags are split T lines like the 450 no springs, no controls other than on - off. The guage is mounted under hood. I have looked at the bed hieght, axle hieght just about everything I can. The driver side bag does not raise as far as pass.side. Another thing the guy had a mechanic try to level truck and he had the air ag pay load arm raised all the way up so you had 100 psi with bags full. What a stiff ride even loaded. I droped it down to lower setting made a big differance. I hate to go and install conrol valves and in cab guages but I ee no other way. Give me a couple of day's and I'll get you guys a couple of pic's so you can see what we have. Also thanks for you help.

Ok, good luck. Sounds like you might have an automatic leveling system for your air ride suspension. If so, then might want to try and determine the manufacturer and see if they have any tech papers on their website or possibly give them a call. If I take a wild guess...you might have a Rayco/Graning system. Here is a spec sheet that you can use to compare to your hardware. Looks like this system has self leveling controls on each side. If so, then you might have a faulty control or maybe it just needs an adjustment. Here is the link. http://reycogranning.com/Support/eli...es/RD1350F.pdf
