The Ford alarm is just a simple perimeter alarm, if you need better security I would suggest adding an actual full fledged system. You can install the Ford Gold system and it will retain the use of the factory key fob. Just a thought.
...It should be an option like selecting warm up time. (Hint Ford). With that being said, I am done clicking on this thread. NO MORE!!
You'll be back. See, you are reading this now.
But you do make my point. This is something that if enough people requested a design change from Ford, the engineers would take it under consideration. If it makes sense and can be done economically, why would they not give the buying public what they want? No one wants to be sued into compliance for someone else's whims, wants and desires.
To the OP, I would suggest a few options. Lower the deductible on your comp to $50. Install a more agressive alarm system to your specifications. Set up a driveway sensor where you park your truck. Pick up a dog at the local animal shelter.
To Steve, having been through three shoulder surgeries myself, I can empathize with you and wish you a speedy recovery. Just don't sue your doctor for using the wrong color sutures because they clash with your immobilizer...
Damn it, I came back! LOL. 3 surgeries, ouch! Way too much recovery time in there. Sitting around is driving me nuts. Haha on the sutures, they almost match the blue on my King Shocks, maybe it's just the drugs
Go ahead and close the thread. Lawsuits against Ford for this is just plain stupid.
Estimate is $806. Lock cylinder has to be keyed and programmed to the truck at a dealer.
I will be upgrading the alarm to something with a shock sensor. If it would have gone off when they hit the lock cylinder initially, they would have left and I would not have lost anything else.
This is costing all of us as in insurance premiums. Insurance companies employ actuaries to study every facet of auto crimes and it's a known fact these trucks are targeted quite frequently, mine included. Nothing was in sight and they still punched my lock cylinder. And as far as filing an insurance claim? Oh, you drive in dangerous areas where vehicles get broken into? Let me raise your rate. Oh, this happened in your driveway? That would mean you live in an area susceptible to theft so let me raise all of your policy rates. Insurance companies track every single auto crime and note the times, places and vehicle involved so that they can assign a risk to said vehicle and we all pay. You may not see the rate increase today, but you will eventually. That's why State Farm sends out rate changes to policies almost monthly; they're changing risk evaluations.
After my truck was broken into, I blanked out the lock cylinder and removed the lock bar. I am installing jimmy jammers next. And no way did I file an insurance claim. Not for $500.00.
