Cam Timing

I have recently purchased a Comp Cam 249-CL34-227-4 from Jegs, and am currently installing a Cloyes C3079X timing set. This timing set has a 3-keyway crank allowing it to advance or retard crankshaft timing. My question is with this cam, where should I set my timing set? If I understand it correctly, the pre-1974 460-429 had advanced cam timing and 1974 and on had it retarded for early smog control. This truck does not need to pass any emissions tests, and I am looking to get the most low end torque I can out of it. Any advice would be appreciated.
