I have a 1989 F-700 Dump that has the 429 in it. It currently doesn't run due to an electrical issue, but that isn't the main point. Is there a way to just rip off all the useless hoses and emission systems off of the engine. It would make it so much easier to work on and I figure just having a pure engine would run better (when it is running again). I don't care about emissions, fuel economy either, or the damage to the environment. It is a farm truck.
This is a carb motor. The engine has lots of hoses that seem to go to nothing. Many are broken off or cut by PO. It seems like they are useless. If they aren't removed, can the smog pump be bypassed without harm.
If you have cut hoses hanging there, you should run them down to either reconnect them if they are important, like the evap system and pcv, or make sure they are not a vacuum leak or an pathway for contamination to get into your engine or carb.
Does this thing have a cat?
Pulling an air pump and the plumbing usually does nothing as long as the injection ports are plugged so you don't have an exhaust leak. The only issue is to find a belt that will work without the pump pulley to wrap around, if that's even an issue.
