Ford Automatic Transmissions

FTE Family,

My brother has obtained a 292 engine and was wondering what Ford automatic transmissions would bolt up to it? I know some of y'all will reply-thanks.

Don't quote me on this but I've seen alot of y-block powered cars and trucks having FEs swapped into them so i can't help but think that a tranny from an FE would bolt up, like a C6, Ford-o-matic or FMX tranny.

For a lot of money, Bendtsen's makes an adapter for the AOD to fit behind the Y-block. But at least it's American made, and a quality product.

Nope. Yblock bell to engine pattern is different than the FE.

The adapter:

Note you might be able to find a y-block bell that will bolt up to a C4, but check his comments on doing that.

If you are wanting to put an original fordomatic in, PM me. I have a original fordomatic/Y-block truck bellhousing, drive shaft and automatic steering column that I think I am going to sell.
