airbag light on

Hi Jim,
An airbag light means that the system has detected a fault within the airbag system. I believe that when this light is on your airbag system is disabled.
Many times the light is caused by the clock spring in the steering wheel, but this is just speculative. You need to have the truck hooked up to a capable scan tool that can read codes from the airbag system to figure out what's wrong.

This is timely. I have my truck in to fix an oil leak and I told them my airbag light was also on and to check that. I thought it would have been under my extended warranty. The dealer just called and notified me the airbag system was not covered and it would be $500+ for the control module. I said forget it. I am going to call tomorrow and see if maybe they will split the cost. It would seem to be in Ford's best interest to stand behind their safety systems and not fail within four years.
