I own a '97 F150 4x4 V8 5.4 L with tilt wheel. My old steering shaft rusted out and broke in two. I am looking to replace with new or used.
Can anyone tell me which years/makes/models that are compatible with my truck , if I purchase used. I have seen a few on ebay that look exactly like mine. But they are either from a '98 F150 or '97 Expedition, Bronco etc...
The new ones are quite expensive so if I can find a used one in very good shape that would be great. Thank You.
Here is one I found on Ebay. I email'd the seller and he is not sure if it will fit my truck. I searched this forum and other forums for an answer , with no luck. I would hate to purchase this to find out it is not compatible. Anyone ?
This may not help a lot, but when I was looking for a steering shaft for my 2000 f150, the only place I could find a new one was at Silver State Ford which has an online catalog. To me, the one you showed the ebay link for looked identical to mine, so apparently 98 to 2000 are the same. Not sure about the 97, but you might be able to find it on the Silver State website, or call them to see if the part number is the same.
Hey Hammer,
I've just finished stripping a 2000 F-150 4X4 & have the steering shaft. Do the research, & if you can use it, let me know. It's yours for the cost of shipping from Virginia Beach, Va. We gotta keep these Fords on the road! E-Mail: rhare34 AT yahoo DOT com
Good luck on the search!
Wow, That is very kind of you Bob.
I was about to pull the trigger on the ebay listing I posted in my thread. From what I have been reading, They seem to be the same from '97-'02. I even called the Ford dealer to confirm but he was tight lipped.
I will email you to discuss. Again, Many,Many thanks to all.
