79F150 front suspension question - wanting max flex
I am building this truck as a trail rig and bought superflex 4" lift coils to get the most flex possible, now to take advantage of these coil springs, will basic shocks made for 4" of lift work, such as: Rancho RS5115? My concern is while this shock is made for 4" of lift, it will greatly limit my flex, or bottom out before I hit the bumpstops. Will I need specialty shocks like these to maximize my flex? Can I even get real good flex with the stock shock mounts, or will I need to build taller custom ones?
Well since is a Custom and not ranger, you should be alright with stock brackets.
To answer your question, seems like the max travel commonly available that will bolt right in is around 10 inches. Otherwise you'll have to make the custom even more custom by building brackets to accept the more 'traditional' style.
I Can't remember what you call the kind with the eyes instead of a stud, but you probably know what I'm talking about.
Id say the limiting factor to look at is the radius arms vs the type of end on the shocks. The length of the stock arms is a major limiting factor. Making them even 6 inches longer is a big help.
