Ok so i have a 1976 ford f250 highboy that i'm putting 5"-6" of lift on. i'm gonna run 38-39.5 tires. my question is. what shocks do i use? do i use superduty ones and make brackets? or should i use ones that are actually made for my truck?. i don't know which ones will be long enough. any input?
yea that would work. but the lift is custom. im doing super duty springs and shackle flip. also custom shackles and brackets. so i dont have a kit to get shocks from....
Before contacting a supplier, in addition to all the other pertinent information determine (measure) the range of shock travel at full droop and full compression.
ed hasnt posted anything for a while.
i miss him.
his ideas inspired my lift.
ill check some stuff out and figure out what stroke i want and stuff.
but i dont like how in the front both ends are the post type?
i guess ill hijack my own thread and ask what you guys did to fix it.
Ding him with a IM and stand by, till then changing the bottom looks like an easy mod to change over to ring end style shock on the bottom.
Look at the upper and lower rear shock mount design, you can get some spare top brackets from a JY and mod them in place on top the flat pin style lower mount area.
Look at the design on the rear lower axle, make a plate like it. Flat plat is axle, uprights just like on the rear, and weld the plate to the original mount area and there you go.
And do a hoop design on the top, I'm sure the desert racer types have an idea or too, a little net surf-in might get you a idea that could be copied or even bought.
How's that from a guy that just pulled a 14 hour day on the clock?
haha amazing! thanks for the help.
ill wait for ed and see what he says.
i dont wanna change too much and go crazy but a nice set of shocks will top off my suspension.
i hope to get this done by school and ill post some pics!
