what shocks?
Ok so i have a 1976 ford f250 highboy that i'm putting 5"-6" of lift on. i'm gonna run 38-39.5 tires. my question is. what shocks do i use? do i use superduty ones and make brackets? or should i use ones that are actually made for my truck?. i don't know which ones will be long enough. any input?

I got a set that came with my Skyjacker Softride 6" kit and have had no problems.
You just need ones that can handle the full compression and extension for your suspension system and not be too long or short.
If making your own extender brackets you will need a way to cycle your suspension to get them right.
The company who makes the lift should/might know how much longer then stock you will need, and I'm sure they will want/try to sale you a set.

I would post up in the "off road & 4x4" forum those guys are have alot of experiance in that dept.
A guy in Cali has a big red rig and a bigger orange one that he's done it to, names
75F350 (ED) and is real helpful.
You should get a ton of help in there, hope this lead helps out.

ed hasnt posted anything for a while.
i miss him.
his ideas inspired my lift.
ill check some stuff out and figure out what stroke i want and stuff.
but i dont like how in the front both ends are the post type?
i guess ill hijack my own thread and ask what you guys did to fix it.

Ding him with a IM and stand by, till then changing the bottom looks like an easy mod to change over to ring end style shock on the bottom.
Look at the upper and lower rear shock mount design, you can get some spare top brackets from a JY and mod them in place on top the flat pin style lower mount area.
Look at the design on the rear lower axle, make a plate like it. Flat plat is axle, uprights just like on the rear, and weld the plate to the original mount area and there you go.
And do a hoop design on the top, I'm sure the desert racer types have an idea or too, a little net surf-in might get you a idea that could be copied or even bought.

i dont wanna change too much and go crazy but a nice set of shocks will top off my suspension.
