wiring issue
I have a 77 f150 460 bb 4x4 single cab swb, and the po had installed a aux fuse panel for gauges. The panel is running my water temp, fuel level, tac, and Cb and everything was working fine, and what I mean by that is it was turning off with the key off, but it could have been always hot and I did not notice it because only the water and tact were running off it. About 3 weeks before Xmas my fender soleniod went out I replaced it and that one was defective replaced it again got the truck to run woke up the next morning to go to school and had a dead battery. Went and had my battery charged next morning same thing got a replacement battery next morning cranked right up drove it that day Friday and Saturday no problems that Sunday I tore a hole in the rad screwing around in a deep mudhole in 2wd. Then it sat untill 2 weeks ago got it running and installed a fuel gauge and wired it to that fuse panel and this is were my most recent issue starts. The new gauge runs up to 3/4 of tank then pins to full so I think bad ground pull the key to start checking and the gauge stays on, I followed the power to the battery side of the solenoid. Switched the wire from one side to the other thinking that might work but nothing cant get it to work and I am just confussed at this point any thing will help.
1) First off, welcome to FTE.
2) Please slow down and use some punctuation and general sentence structure. I can't understand what you are saying - I got lost about halfway through.
3) After re-reading your post a couple times, I'm still not 100% clear on what the actual issue is. Are all the previous problems solved, and now the gauge just reads wrong? Or the gauges don't shut off, or both? Can you list out the specific issues one at a time? Assuming that the fuel gauge reading is still an issue - is this the factory gauge and sending unit, or aftermarket?
I would run use a relay. Run a wire directly from the hot side of the battery to the the relay and from the relay to the fuse panel. For the signal wire, use the yellow 3 terminal connector and slide a bullet connector into it, no wiring harness hacking required.
Btw, what is the fuse panel for?
