I have a 2000 Ex V-10 with 128K miles. About a month ago, it became difficult to start. It turns over fine, but doesn't fire. I found if I leave the key on the ON position for 30-45 seconds before cranking, it will finally start. This makes me think fuel pump, but once started it runs great. I would think a fuel pump problem would persist after starting. I am not getting any trouble codes. The outside temp does not seem to matter as I have it stored in a heated garage and the problem appears if stored inside or out.
Are you saying if it sits overnight you have the problem too. It may be electrical. It may be fuel. I had this happen 2 times and it was not a good feeling. I was told it may be the cam or crank sensor. I was also reading that it may be the neutral switch on the trans. I also thought the fuel pump or the fuel regulator. I hope this does not happen to me again but I would like to know just in case. Have you had a mechanic look at it yet? They can measure the fuel pressure to see if it is the pump.
Right now it is in semi-storage for the winter. Whenever I get it out, the problem occurs, even after having been run for a while, but after sitting for more than a few minutes (like the time it takes for dinner out). I have not taken it to the shop yet; I was looking for some suggestions before I made that investment. Looks like I will have to take it in. Thanks for your interest. I'll let you know what I find.
I have read a lot of post that poit to a bad fuel pump. What sucks is the pump is in the tank. It is a somewhat costly fix but beats buyin a new suv that can do what I want. Keep us posted.
