I've been to Joe's place a few times. He's a good guy operating an old school junk yard. He has lots of vehicles parked in the trees on a farm. Kind of a "Pa Kettle", for those old enough to remember ma & pa Kettle movies. He says he has some parts that I'm looking for and one of these days he'll get around to looking for them. Three months later I'm still waiting. I put my project on hold for the winter, so that's fine with me. He is about 25 miles SE of Minneapois/St. Paul, MN.
This might be a good place to visit on your way to a great car/truck show. The third weekend in June, the Back to the 50's show is held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. 10,000 to 12,000 vehicles 1964 & older. All makes & models. You can check it out on the associations web site, msra.com. Joe knows Ford. He has the books to look up numbers, but probably doesn't need to use them a lot.
OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING!!! Thanks so much for posting. I just happen to be driving from Edmonton, AB to Chicago in about 2 weeks with an empty trailer in tow!!! Planned route has me going right through Minneapolis, looks like a little side trip just got thrown in there.
Can someone give a little more detail in where he's located. I'll have to give him a call this week.
Can't count how many times FTE members have come to my aid without even knowing it! Glad to be a part of such a great group!
Hey BrizNasty -
I'm learning that working together on FTE is what it's all about. Joe's Auto Salvage is South of the SE corner of Minneapois/St. Paul. The Interstate that goes around the Cities is 494/694. Off that road you go South on Highway 52 to 190th St/County Road 62. Turn right (East) and go about 2 1/2 miles. Joe's business sign is on the North side of the road, right along side a dairy farm. If you get to the small town of Vermillion, you've gone a little too far. Once back on Hwy 52 you can keep going South through Rochester, MN (Mayo Clinic), & get on Intersate 90. That will take you to Chicago. Joe's hours are 8 to noon & 2 to 5, M-F and 8 to noon on Sat. When you get on Hwy 52 you'll be about 5 miles from my place. It would be great to sit down and compare truck stories.
There is another interesting business in St. Paul that you might find interesting. Little Dearborn has a ton of Ford parts, with great guys working there. Check them out at littledearborn.com

A few minutes after I posted directions to Joe's last night I realized it didn't make sense. If you're going south & need to go east, you turn left, not right.
