Hmmm so far this thread is either a disappointment to the ratchet strap industry or a great opportunity for easy store containers!

Thin ones I just hang by both hooks from the lumber rack on my truck.
They can't get tangled that way.

2 or 3" straps I coil up before I put them away.

I saw retractable ratchet straps at Home Depot the other day kind of like dog leashes. The straps retracted into a spool that was powered by a spring I guess. I think they where only for small jobs like under 500lbs.

I roll them up if they are dry. If they are wet usually get thrown on passenger side floor until they dry out then roll or stuff in mesh bag behind seat.

I installed these Rack-Strap - Truck Rack Tie Downs and Accessories on my truck.
They are always ready unless caked in ice.

I usually coil them up flat and either use a rubber band to hold it together or just wrap the loose end around it a few times.

Then I store them in a USGI like "Mechanics" bag. Just do a google for USGI mechnics bag, you will see plenty.

Most Surplus stores have them in stock, usually made in India, but they work fine. Of course any other bag would work well too.
