NP 435? Nothing that I know of... The shifter mounts directly to the top of the trans and there is no "short shift mod" that I have ever encountered or discussed.
I can relate to the issue... my knuckles graze the dash pad in 1st and 3rd gear.... The answer? TKO-500!

I just have one question. I understand if you are trying to build a racecar, or the high performance sunday driver, but is it really worth putting a $2100 5 speed manual transmission in a truck thats 40+ years old and have almost no resale value? Dont get me wrong, i Love my 72, but i bought the whole truck for $3000 and its in really good shape. Isnt there a lower cost alternative to a stronger trans, or the problem at hand, a short throw shifter. You could probably have someone engineer you a short throw for 1/4 of the price. Just an idle question, not meaning to stir anything up here.
I cant believe there is only one company out there that makes anything remotely similar to a short throw for this trans. Its all over google, B&M could make a killing, i wonder what is stopping them?? Couldn't be an engineering issue...

An excellent question. Strictly by the numbers? No. Definitely not... it makes no sense. However, the 70 is for pure fun and enjoyment - I've got awesome gains in my stock portfolio and have money I can play with.
Plus, I can always transfer the TKO to another project... like a tube-framed roadster that I want to build some day. Here is my inspiration: HubGarage.com - Sire Custom Performance Garage
here is a short throw for the NP435 transmission. Its for a bronco, but something like this might work for our trucks, not a big fan of it tho... not too great looks wise when trying to keep it as stock as possible, but if your modding for something else then this might be the right avenue of approach. 3 & 4-Speed Transmissions - WILD HORSES Early Ford Bronco Parts
His response "im going back to my 80 pinto i loved that shifter " did not deny it was an NP so it is a reasonable assumption that it is.
Since when can peeps assume anything here on FTE? You fed the OP the NP435 jazz, then another member chimed in about it. But my guess is, that the OP has no clue which 4 speed it is.
He may be in love with his Pinto shift lever, but I'll betcha he didn't know if it had the German or English 4 speed trans, as both were available.
Can you tell what the visual differences are between a NP435 vs the T-18 Warner shift levers? Maybe, but I doubt the OP can.

That part produces the same effect as a shorter arm which the OP stated that he's not interested in.... this is of course with the assumption that it is an NP435 (since he did not discount the assumption in my first post).
Lack of clarity results in certain reasonable assumptions being made unless the OP clarifies otherwise.
Are you talking about the long gates between gears or the length and shape of the shifter itself? You can't do any thing with the gates as that is the way it was designed. Just remember, it is a heavy duty truck transmission, whether NP-435 or T-18, used in much bigger trucks than wimpy F-100/350's. If you want a better shifter, get a M5OD, ZF, or NVG-4500. If using an FE, than you are stuck with using a 4500 with a special bellhousing, if I remember right. If you want a Pinto or Mustang shifter, buy a Pinto or a Mustang. That Wild Horse shifter is used to move the location of the shifter handle in an EB from under the dash to a more comfortable position. It wouldn't change the gates of a 435 and is not a short throw shifter like a Mustang. If you don't like the shape of the shifter handle that you have, you can do what others have done is take a torch to bend it and cut it, and use a threading die to cut new threads for a shifter ball.
