So I was screwing around in the snow...using the e-brake and suddenly the radio shut off. The clock and compass are still on and I can eject and load a CD, but nothing else works. No sirus, radio, or sync. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? I checked fuse 2, 26, and 29...they are okay.
I tried resetting by disconnecting the battery overnight, but there is still no response from any of the buttons. Whats weird is that the clock is still displaying, but when I try to change the time, I can't...I am stumped.
I guess I am going to keep responding to my own post... I took apart the dash and didn't notice any loose connections. The only thing I noticed, was a bare partially broken wire next to the e-brake petal. It does not have any sheathing around it and looked as though it was pulled...most of the strains were actually broke. I have never seen a bare wire going into a harness...although, following the wire up under the dash, it looks like it has foil wrapped around it. Not sure if that is the issue, but I took it into the dealer. A week and counting. The only response so far is that its not communicating.
It seems a little odd that there would be a bare wire anywhere on the truck. It is equally as odd that you're having that issue. Let us know what you find out.
If it makes you feel any better, my rear view mirror adjustment button doesn't work. The part that sucks is that I just found out last Thursday because someone folded in my mirror and tweaked the glass. I'm hoping that I forgot to plug it back in when I took the door apart this fall. If it warms up and/or stops snowing, I will pull it apart again to see.
Got the word today that they have to replace the entire head unit. I once again mentioned the broken wire, but they failed to look at that. My luck, it will probably happen again...maybe there is some kind of flaw with using the e-brake while power is on.
