I went to the dealer with a good friend of mine. He was "looking" for a new truck. He said he wasnt looking to buy just looking, well he bought one. A gorgeous 2011 F-150 super crew lariat with eco boost, in tri coat white metallic...it sweet, but to small for what I need.
So I was walking the lot while he was dealing and I see a 2012 350 6.7 crew lariat loaded...I'm in love, so the saleman says let me run the numbers and see what we can do. I didnt have my truck with me but everytime its there for service hes always asking me when Im gonna be ready to trade.
So my question is what would you do? my truck is paid for, its been realitively trouble free, just had the rear end rebuilt undr warranty, and Ive ben salting some money away for mods such as a power max, some new sticks and studs. Ive done a lot to the truck and I am real happy with it, but if the numbers work and I get a good deal maybe I should trade up.
Im not one of those people that likes to pay 800 a month or finance more than 48 months. Right now I dont have a ton of money for a down payment so prety much my trade would be the down payment.
They also have 08 F-450 Lariat with 60k on it too, but its an 08 6.4, and needs 6 tires. Not real sure on this one, but Im thinking in a long hot if I bought it I would do a DPF delete and tune it.
But then again if I go that route I think I would just keep my truck. Anyway, I wont really know anything until monday when they call me, and the sticker price was really shocking at 48k.
I just got shocked again, I looked the truck up on line and the sticker was 58k, thats all the cold shower I need. Unless the incentives and rebates come out to about 15k Im out.
Me and the 06 are gonna be like peas and carrotts for a long while
Yea what he said.....I've heard a lot of horror stories about the 6.4. And both these new common rails have had some HPFP failure and Ford is being really conservative with their warranty. I think the 6.7 will be a great motor in it's maturity every platform has it's growing pains. I don't know if you've been lurking in the 6.7 forum yet but there has been a few sad stories where there were major failures and Ford denied warranty. I've been tempted with the 6.7s as well they are a smooth, super quiet and very powerful engine but I'm pretty happy with my deleted, studded, 6.0. Just my .02
The least expensive vehicle is the one you already own that runs good and does the job. A week after you buy a new truck you will come across all kinds of other things you may want to do or even need to do but the bucks are all gone.
$45 K or $50 sticker prices - you USA guys are fortunate in Canada the sticker prices are $65 to $80 K and are currency is close to par. We get hosed pretty well in Canada, so some go to the US to buy a vehicle and save thousands.
I had a 6.7, it spent most of it's short life at the dealership. Started the lemon process but ended up trading it off for a BMW instead because I didn't want another 6.7. Was a good truck and had great power but I wasn't a huge fan on the interior or the front-end but seemed like a smart buy at the time until I had to put it in the shop the first time and then it went back to the shop countless times. I think people love the 6.7 right now but we'll see what they say when we start seeing a lot of them rolling over 100,000+miles... I would buy the Chevy if I were to buy another new diesel.
knock on wood, my 04 6.0l has had less problems then my dads 08 6.4l, and his truck has half the miles mine has, id keep the paid off truck and go mod happy lol
The only one I would consider at this point is the 08 F450 but at 36k and 64,000 miles Im not gonna do that either.
I know the truck I have, I knows its quirks, and its only got 67k on it, so I guess Im gonna order that Power Max sooner than later.

Your truck is just getting broken in good. It's got SO much life left. Just think.....for every payment you would have to make on that 6.7 you can almost do a MAJOR power mod on your already paid for 6.0 or you can save the $$$ for WAY down the road when the 6.0 is still running for some extra fishing time--LOL.
