After much deliberation and a nice long ride in the 06 today, I decided shes not going anywhere as a matter of fact I think Im gonna call up RiffRaff by the end of the week or first part of next week to get that Power Max comming.
So I was walking the lot while he was dealing and I see a 2012 350 6.7 crew lariat loaded...I'm in love, so the saleman says let me run the numbers and see what we can do. I didnt have my truck with me but everytime its there for service hes always asking me when Im gonna be ready to trade.
But then again if I go that route I think I would just keep my truck. Anyway, I wont really know anything until monday when they call me, and the sticker price was really shocking at 48k.
I realize I'm late in this thread...and you've already made up your mind (smart move if you ask me)...but I thought I'd add this anyway. When my '04 went missing last spring I went & looked at the then new 6.7L powered trucks. Since I'm happy with the chassis I have (CrewCab 2WD 3.73LS) I was shopping for a direct replacement just newer vintage. I'm sure money talks, but $48k convinced me I needed to walk away! That's almost what I paid for my 3Br 2Bath 1500sq/ft house in '99. I know Ford sells allot of 'em, but it won't be to me anytime soon...that's a boat load of cash.

Yeah I would love a new truck but being that the fire department also provides me with a truck to drive all the time as the chief I dont really use my personal truck as often as I like. So for me to make payments on a truck that will sit in my driveway or garage doesnt make sense.
Besides, its taken alot of work to get the bugs out of the 06, and its almost there. I think a new turbo, sticks, and studs and ill be good for a few hundred thousand miles.
The other thing that bothers me is the fuel systems and emissions systems on these trucks. I like the 08 F-450 but I dont need anything that big and it doesnt make sensse to get a truck 2 years newer with only 3k less on the odo. I think if that truck had around 30k on the odo I might realy consider it, but being itsa job 1 08 it would still scare me.
So like I said, Its just not the right time nor does it make sense right now. Im happy with what I have, its paid for, and runs great. Plus its simpe compared to whats out there now.

If for some reason my truck went away, theft, fire, wreck etc, I would consider a 6.7. I am however just getting comfy with the possibilty of working on the 6.0 even tho I'm still under warranty. The sa at my dealer did say that the 6.7 is kind of built modular wise for taking diff. things off of the engine to work on diff. things. Nothing new I think is going to get easier in the future to work on.
Why would you consider a 450 if you have no use for a 450? The fact that you run a level kit suggests that you are not loaded very often as it is. I do not see a valid argument here for spending the money unless you can salvage some resale value from your 6.0 and get into something with a lower cost of ownership. -Mike

Maybe give your truck a makeover? Ever watch SpeedChannel on the tv...maybe you could be a candidate for "Pimp My Ride". LOL!
Seriously...good and smart decision to keep your truck. I like the new features and fresh smell of a new vehicle as much as the next guy...but...don't care for the increased complexity of the new Ford diesel...the jury is still way out in my book!
The second you roll that new 6.7 off the dealer's lot it'll loose more value than it would cost to slap in a brand new engine in your 6.0.
Yep, that is why I am spending time in this forum. I want to learn how to service and repair my own truck. I don't plan on ever buying a new vehicle again.
I am sorry as I know there are dealer employees on here but I absolutely will not buy parts from a dealer again either (if I can help it). I just bought fuel and oil filters from the local dealer. I then find the fuel filter kit on Riffraff for almost exactly HALF as much as I paid at the dealer. The oil filter from Riffraff was $10 cheaper. Man am I learning things the hard way.

Just because I have a level kit means nothing as how I run. When this truck is used its usually got anywhere form 10-14k behind it. I put the leveling kit on becuase I wanted it and it was time for new shocks. I guess the fact that the truck has ride right bags and a Goose Neck in the back means nothing too...

BTW... how do you like the air bag setup, i hate the way the trucks look jacked up in the rear as well , so i installed a leveling kit too, but when i tow my 35ft TT it squats a little much, im looking into air bags to level it out when I tow
The air bag set up is awesome. I popped for the compressor and incab controls. The nice thing about that is if I load uneven or the load shifts I can add or subtract air as I need it while driving. I was thinking about removing the firestone compressor and adding a Viair systme with a tank so I have the baility to use air when needed.
There is no storage with the system I have and the compressor is only good for the bags. That is the only change I would make to the set up I have right now.
