so my 2003 f250 5.4L gas had a straight pipe when i bought the truck which was only 3 weeks ago.. they said the check engine light comes on because there is no catalytic converter which makes sense.. i ran the obd2 codes and one came back as the O2 sensor which is ok but im not sure what the other code is? these are the codes i got, anyone have any ideas if this is all ok? P1151 and P0155
also could the straight pipe cause it to run Lean? are their any cons to keeping it the way it is?
I am interested in the answer too. I also just got my truck- a 99 F250 5.4. It also has a straight pipe and the check engine light is on (otherwise seems to run fine). I haven't ran the codes though.
On these trucks, there is no O2 sensor on the cat.
The guy who just did my exhaust informed me of this so we ditched the cat. Ive had no issue with it.
I believed 2004 or above had oxygen sensors on both side of cat convertor. That what my friend told me. He on here. Freedom by 5.4L
I remove cat convertor on 01 F250 5.4L. No engine light on. Drove for 2000 miles before sold due paranoid about transmission issue. Reason why I remove cat. 200K miles by previous owner it look it was idle alot. Mpg was 12-13 after Cat delete it saw 15-17 mpg.
when i made my exhaust(no cat blowmaster 44 exits before passenger wheel) i took out the cat because i realized the only 02 sensors were before the cat and i have had it with no cat for about 1000 miles now with no check engine light and no problems.
