Hi there, I usually lurk on the 61-66 forum since I have a '63.In looking for p/steering info, since I "think" my old truck would be more simular to the earlyier models than late, I see that some of you have tried a Toyota p/s setup. My question is,since my steeringbox is located simular to your early models, would the same info apply to my '63. I know there's plenty folks on the 61-66 board who ask this question (what can I swap),but as you may know the 61-66 models are basically 2 different animals in basically the same sheetmetal. There's the 61-64 that are more simular in design to yours framewise, then the 65-66 models that are closer to the later (67-72) models. What I'm looking at in the long run is p/s, and auto tranny info. For right now,I'll deal with the p/s info you may be able to offer, what do you guys say? Thanks,Al
Well, I usually frequent both the 61-66 & the 48-60... ( i have one from each ) and unfortunately the swap is no where as easy on the 61-64 as the earlier models. The angle at which the steering column exits the cab is different and it makes it a bear to get the box attached to a column. But, with enough patience I'm sure it could be done... But it will require fabrication that the earlier ones don't.

And to add, I just noticed you have a 4x4, an almost entirely different beast... I'm not sure you would want a toyota box, may not be up to the challenge of a 4x4...
Al,
There is one other option that you should look into. It is an adaptation of a later Ford box. I wish an advertising deal could be worked out between Ken and these folks to allow more people to know about it so that some people can try it and we could get some feedback. There's way more Ford boxes out there than Toyota boxes, and I would think that Ford parts in a Ford truck would be preferable to Toyota parts. Send be a private message with your email address and I'll send it to you.
Adios,
Brett
