Potential Expy owner.

If things are going fine tomorrow, I'll be a Ford Expy owner. I may regret it but hope not. The interior layout really impresses me and my growing family, looking forward for the next long trip.

It's an 05. Besides the design I like, I'm clueless of all the familiar issues, maintenance and what to look for, I don't even know if it's equipped with air ride suspension or not.

So please tell me some about this Expy that you guys like, for now I'm all ear.

Best thing to do is get the VIN # and look at the driver's door tag for other specifics such as axle ratios, etc. 05s and up do not have air ride. They are all independent rear suspensions.

The biggest hassle you will have is a tune up. These trucks use a two-piece spark plug that is known to break in the head upon removal because the threads become carboned up. You can do further reading on the topic, but it's not impossible to remove those plugs. It just takes time and patience to get them out without breaking.

Thank you ExpGuy, good to know. Independent suspension is good, and thanks for the spark plugs heads up.

BTW, the car is now in my driveway, found a loose vacuum hose already, I'll take some pictures soon.

EXPy

Congrats, I hope you like your truck.
I recently got a 2006.
I replaced all the fuids already, plus the gas and air filter.
In the spring I will do the water pump, serpentine belt and the pesky plugs.
The only thing I am not used to is the fuel comsumption.
I came from a Jetta TDi getting 50 MPG to the Expy. This is my secong Expy, I bhack then I had a brande new 99 with a 4.6 engine. These trucks are nice...
Quite a shock , lol

I love the style of the 05 design. I wish we would have spent a little more when we bought our 98. Oh well, I like the expys in general.
