HI Everyone : I am trying to get my bronco to charge, I have 3 wire I think that go to the alternator there are 4 post on the back all the wire drawing I have don't tell you what goes where , there is a STA, FLD ( field ) I know what BAt is I have that hooked up . There is a white wire an a green-red stripe an ground I have the hooked up also. Or should I up grade to a newer alt. Thank your for your help . Rick
Two things.... One a wiring diagram for that year will give you where those wires go by color....and get that alt charging....
If you look at the plug for the voltage regulator if will also tell you where the wires go.... The lugs on the regulator for sta and fld correspond to the lugs on the alt...
This link will help.... Upgrading to a one wire is another option.... You can either use a gm alt from the 70s to 80s or a ford 3g or an aftermarket bolt on from mean green or powermaster...
