New Tailgate

I recently bought a F-350 4x4 and am looking for a newer tailgate that can replace the damaged one that came on the vehicle. Is there a Ford outlet center that carries exterior parts or would a junkyard be a better option?

Be prepared to shell out big bucks for a tailgate. About 10 years ago, I was quoted $400 for a used one with no hardware at a wrecking yard.

Check ebay. I dented my 2011 F150 tailgate when I got home went to ebay and found a brand new one with all the badges and hardware for $400.

Check your local Craigs List also. Lots of tailgates on there all the time.

went to a junk yard and got an 08 tail gate for my 06 after a pallet of block came unsecured in the bed and bent my old tailgate in half. i think i paid around the 300 mark but you need to change bottom hardware as they are different. if you search i posted part # s needed from ford in earlier posts for the new mechs on the bottom of truck. i swapped out my old lock so the key would still work too.
