Talking My kid has been accepted to three colleges

My little one has a ton of options.

She's been accepted to Stevenson College, Mary Baldwin College and Ferrum College.

All are small D-3 schools, very expensive and they are offering about half of the annual fee as a freebie. Sarah will have to find the rest.

She has a softball opportunity at Stevenson College and a guaranteed spot on Mary Baldwin's team. The Ferrum coach never replied, her loss.

We've toured Stevenson and Mary Baldwin. Sarah's first choice is Stevenson, mine is MB. Naturally it's her decision.

She's one of the most driven and determined kids that I've ever known. She has created her own opportunities and I truly applaud that in a person.

Congrats to her and you for raising a good human, it's the hardest job in the world to do properly. I have two little ones (5 & 7) myself and know the decisions I make with them now has EVERYTHING to do with how they turn out later. She sounds smart enough to choose the right school for her. Nice work!

A side note, I was just accepted to WVU and started a couple weeks ago. Sure I'm 42 but better late...

Aside from me finishing what I started years ago, I hope this will help display the importance of college to my kids.

Congratulations, Tim!!!!!!!!!!

You have every right to be proud!! You've raised your daughter to be a go-getter!!!!!

Tell her that a gray-haired old fat guy (Uh. . . that would be me!) at FTE said, "Congratulations!!!!"

If I had it to do over - I'd have jumped straight into college right after high school.
Assuming there was any money for it then either (there wasn't)

You would think my Pop would've been more supportive being a college man himself, but in fact what killed the idea of college for me was the day he promised to let me use one of his cars to drive to class instead of riding 15 miles on a clapped out ten speed I scraped together.

Ten minutes before I had to leave he took off with it, and I later found out he went to a bar. It cost me my tuition, and what I spent on books for an entire semester -

So I made plans instead to get the hell out of his house!

Thanks everyone! The softball coach just emailed her to set up a practice with the team and a sleep over on campus with the team. She's pretty stoked right now! So my wife gets to drive three hours to Staunton, Va and stay in a hotel while my daughter lives the campus life for a night.

That's so funny Ken! I'm shocked that you still remember all that. I actually put my foot down and said that we are not following the kids around the country while they discover themselves.

So fortunately she's looking at schools closer to home, and they will be easier to manage and watch her play ball.

Aww NUTZ! For some reason I thought you had an RV - and that would be an excellent excuse to use it...
