having problems with my brake lights. have 98 f-150 and the brake lights on the rear of the truck don't work when the pedal is depressed. the light on the cab (brake indicator light ) does work when pedal is depressed. Can it be possible for the b/o/o switch be bad even though the cab signal still works?
well to start you off...if it is a 98 then youre in the wrong forum...but since its a general quesation i will do my best...if 1 of 3 lights works properly then the brake light switch at the pedal is working fine...it sounds like maybe but probably not a fuse burned...honestly i would think it sounds like the wiring for those 2 back lghts got unhooked/cut or something if they dont get power...
first and foremost you want to test the bulbs with a voltmeter if they are ok then have a buddy step on the brake and probe into the bulb socket at the back for power if no power there i would trace the wiring harness that runs for brake lights and probe whatever wire is for those lights in random spots to see if you have a broken wire or wires...
does the tail light function work?how about reverse lights?
found the problem and it was with a faulty flasher switch, as to being in the wrong forum I apologize for this and will make sure not to make the same mistake again.
appearently there isn't room for a slight oversight in this site. I sincerely apologize for interupting your day by asking a simple question. I admit I am new here and didn't notice what forum I was in but rest assured that I will not be guilty of asking for any further info from this site being as how you like to berate individuals who are in need of assistance. I hope that in the future you could be more of a help to a person that is in need of assistance.
