Glenn get you a peice of rubber hose that fits over the drill bit real tight and set it so you can only drill so deep

That's a good idea (must be a echo in here). Maybe even clamp it. Sure wish i didn't have to wait on parts, bummer!

I thought why not use stud with nuts for people who had this issue?

I was worked on my f350 last summer I could say it was very weak that it was important to do torque bolt correct.

Studs and nuts work great for a lot of things, I do it quite often, especially with alum threads. Some things are not as easy to slide on the studs, though, but I think with the filter housing out of the way it should be doable.

I've seen those slide, but they are very helpful. Gotta be careful to not damage flutes if you use them also.

Waiting for the USP to arrive today I got up the nerve to drill the holes out with a 27/64 drill bit. It was harder then i thought but I think they will be OK. I didn't want to tap them until I could look at the inserts. The inserts arrived just before dark. One of the problems drilling out the holes was trying to get light on the subject and the angle drill in there. The inserts aren't very long so I think my holes will be deep enough. They are deeper then the inserts so the tap will have enough room to make threads deep enough for the inserts, i hope. Tomorrow I'll tape the holes out and if all goes well I'll put it all together. Wish me luck!

1 1/2"x 13 threads per inch tap Jose. Today I just put the tap in the hole and it seemed real tight. It might be hard to tap out, I will see, LOL. My wife is shopping for a new used pickup. I asked her what is she doing and she said that we might as well start looking. She has a lot of faith in me.

1 1/2 ??? Oh, thats very coarse thread. Looking back maybe it would be better to use helicoils in this specific case or timeserts

LOL, its course threads but when I said 1 1/2 I meant one tap at 1/2" by 13, LOL. I would hate to change course now but maybe later I'll regret it
