Sluggish ecceleration

At a full stop, when I accelerate the RPM are slow to increase. Is this normal?

Welcome to FTE. If you pin the go pedal to the floor the PCM is going to limit the acceleration; if you roll "on to it" slowly it will scream like a demon. If the sluggish acceleration is something new...could be a couple of things. I'd check for codes first...but off the top of my head: leaking CAC boots, stuck vanes, clogged fuel filters, EGR valve. Also unlike a gas engine, diesels are generally slower spinning; so the RPM don't wrap up as fast as a gasser. The 6.0L is governed at 3600 rpm, where a 5.0 is governed at something like 5500.
