I am looking for info regarding best set-up for mud bogging.I have a 77 F 150 shortbox stepside 4x4 w/ 460 ,at and 3.50 gears.I plan to run 36-38 inch tires.I was wondering what wheel speed guys try to get in the pit? My engine makes 450 ft.lbs.@4500 and 450hp@5700.Any advise on gear selection would help avoid alot of trial and error.
Your going to have to ditch your current gears for sure. In the 36-38" tire range you'll want 4.88s for mud bogging. If its not a dedicated bogger than you'll probably want to compromise with 4:56s for the asphalt.

That was in low range, I start in first and bang second, then end up shifting back to first when it slows down. when it finally stops, it blows the tires free sending the mud flying....I love that

Well it is time for more power but not nitrous . I am building an engine now with cj heads, shooting for 600 hp that should do it.........till next year lol
Well, to be honest I don't use nitrous in my truck either. Have used it on past cars, but not trucks. I like you prefer to just build up the engine. @600 will cut the mustard for any tire you want to bolt onto there. Have fun!
