Finally got a COE cab...
In fact I was so afraid I waited almost 6 months to have it shipped.
I tried to have a fte or hamb member to bring it to ca but I couldn't find anyone.
I finally man up and had the guy send it via GH.
He sent it on Thursday and It got here today!
I was told I had to wait 5-7 days...
they hood was in great shape and they only dragged it on the floor for a bit. (I can see the scrape mark)
But otherwise no complaints.
Beware! tracking your item sucks! I had to call 3 times before I got to talk to a nice lady in Texas, she told me the package was still ''in route" and I had to wait 5-7 days but that I should keep calling,2 hours latter they called.
As Ilya mentioned,it helps to wrap cardboard around edges and write:"Do not fold, crush, stand on" or whatever...thats what the seller did.
Now I don't want to be unkind but "that's a face only a mother
could love". You guys don't drive Pontiac Aztecs or Pacers for your daily driver do you? That thing might look better with some mud on it - just saying...
I'm just pulling your leg - Looks like a fun project. You don't see many of those over here in Texas.

I thought I'd add my two cents worth on this shipping. Personally I prefer truck freight. Of course I admit I may have an inside line on this and possibly I'm getting a better price. I recently shipped in a set of doors for the COE from Phoenix that C-700 sold me. Greyhound was over 200 and that meant he would have had to take the stuff to the terminal. I booked shipment by truck freight that picked it up at the origin with a hydraulic lift gate and delivered it here to me directly for 191 bucks. I also got tracking info. The only downside I can think of is that truck freight requires the loads be secured to pallets. This in my opinion beats dragging the stuff to the bus terminal and then having to go there and pick it up. Previously I stated that I might possibly have an inside line on the deal. My daughter in law is a manager of a shipping brokerage office for a world wide shipping brokerage company. I just send her an e-mail with the delivery and pickup info as well as a description of the load in terms of weight, and size. She then gives me a price quot, and if I accept she books the load and they bill me. I know this sounds complicated but it really isn't. I do it all from my computer and then wait for it to show up. The doors took less than four days to get here and They consistently beat out Greyhound with speed and price. As a matter of fact, I'm in the system as one of their shipping clients.
Anyone can do this. Just go to Google and look for a broker. Try typing in Woodland Global. My girl's office is in Atlanta and she books world wide. I would bet they have offices out there on the West Coast as they are in 130 countries. My daughter in law's office could do any shipments from anyplace in the world. If anyone wants specific contact info e-mail or PM me.

Today it's a beautiful Saturday and promises to be a warmer than normal weekend. Lately I've been covered up with lots of need to do stuff and I have had to limit my work on the COE to just a few days a week.
As I said before, I don't have a definite plan for this project beyond getting the cab body work done. Since I am currently having to share my work time with other things I find myself mentally wondering through all the possibilities as to what I can do when it comes to choosing a chassis and running gear set up. Normally I would just let this fall into the dream stage and let it roll but there is one part of the work I am doing now that will possibly make problems for me later. That would be the front half of the cab floor. I'd really like to keep it flat but I have seen a few pics that seem to indicate that I might be asking for trouble later by doing so. depending on what I do about a drive train. Hopefully I'll be going with a 95 to 02 7.3 Powerstroke but the reality may turn out that I go with my base backup which is my old one ton '93 long wheelbase van chassis which is a 7.3 IDI engine.
Years ago I remember seeing what looked to be engineering drawings of the conventional 53 to 55 cabs here on this forum. I would really like to see something like that for the 53 to 55 COE cab C series trucks. A am especially interested in seeing drawings that show the relationship and location of the cab to the chassis and drive train. When I bought this cab I got the title but the guy had already gotten rid of the chassis and drive train as it was his intent to put it on a later model chassis.
As mentioned above, I am still thinking about all the possibilities including a mid engine set up to get a really flat floor. So, all ideas are still optional at this point until I do start working on the front floor half.
I also want to ask if anybody knows of any source for replacement floor sections for the front half of the 53 to 56 COE cabs and I'd also like to know if they are all the same up through the C series as in C-600, 700, 800 etc.?
Any good pictures , drawings and/or info on these questions would be greatly appreciated.
Later Folks...
