What is a ready to run distributor, a GM HEI?

Ready to run distributors don't require an ignition box, just hook up 3 wires, the coil and your good. Here's an example MSD Ignition 8350 - MSD Pro-Billet Ready-To-Run Distributors - Overview - SummitRacing.com
