I thought I post this up to share
Sample drawn 1/10/12
John Deere Plus 50 II 10w-30 CJ-4
miles on sample 7,300
total miles 142,158
OILSCAN (through Deere)
No make-up oil added
This report is basically the same as the last 7 or 8 using this viscosity/brand, although this is my first run of the CJ-4 formula, all of the previous runs were CI-4. Wear numbers are staying in check and my driving style/use of the truck hasn't changed. Its my work truck as it hauls weight down the highway through the heat of the summer.
The viscosity held up pretty darn well, but it is close to a 20 wt. Do you know what the starting viscosity was?
As per Deere specs the viscosity of virgin 10w-30 is 12.1, so yes it did shear, but still well within 30wt. The 30wt. transition is 9.5 (12.4-9.5 30wt. range) @100`C. I am happy with the results, I was as curious as to the difference between the older speced CI-4 I had used up to this run vs. the current CJ-4 speced lube. It seems all is well.
