Replacing a camshaft need help

I Am going to replace my camshaft and needed to know if it's not to bad of a job ANC any tips or ways to do it? I have a 86 f250 7.5 460 big block 2wd

It's a pretty involved job, I am wondering why you are doing it. Pull the carb/intake, pull the valve covers, take all the rocker arms and pushrods out(keep them in order) pull all the stuff off the front of the engine, pull the radiator, and you might even have to pull the A/C condensor out of the way if you do not have enough room to slide the cam out. The hardest part sometimes is getting the lifters out, they get a varnish on them and get stuck in the lifter bores. They make a special puller for them.

Yes, it's a big job, and you'll need to pull the engine if you find you also need to replace the cam bearings.

If you have any oil leaks you might as well pull the entire engine and buy a complete gasket set.
