(sigh) Gee whiz, and here I thought the only member of this forum that needed his peepers checked was Chris.

He failed to open his peepers, or mebbe he's in the same canoe as you.
Mebbe you could take him along when you get your peepers checked, after you missed those three 9155's. (sigh)
btw: After researching, then typing all this jazz, how many reps do ya think we'll get from all the peeps that need these parts?
Prolly none. (sigh)

Know what, Bill?
I just got contact lenses about a month ago....
But, they help me focus on things far away, and without additional reading glasses, things closer up are pretty damn hard to see!
Even with the readers, there is only a certain range where things are easily in view, the computer screen is too far away from that range.
Hence why I haven't put in my contacts today.
I already told you, I needed to go pee, wanted to save what I had already written before FTE timed out and made me log in again (and I likely lost what I had already typed).
Did I mention how looking things up in the damn books sometimes takes a LOT of time? Also see 123A456, 234PDQ987, etc. etc. etc.
Check your rep point counter, you should have a bestowment from moi.

Like I said...just memorize all the basic part numbers, shouldn't take you more than a year...or so to do this, problemo solved.

My 'driving' glasses are worthless, cuz the screen is blurry when I wear them, so I took my laptop with me, set it up at Lens Crapters, then sat down in front of it. They measured the distance, made me glasses that work peachy keen.
Thanks for the reps, received 6 from you giving me 3609. I tried giving you some yesterday for this thread, got the usual "spread it around" message.

Yes, it's the thought that counts, but...don't expect me to send you any flowers.
I'll rep you after I spread the love, will also pass some along to 81-F-150-Explorer, cuz I got the same spread it around wild mule p!ss message, when I tried repping him.

I'm not in a big rush. Still working out some of the bugs that take precedence over the tailgate. I'll let ya know if I need it "delivered". Thanks, fellro.

I got a similar run around at a local dealer when I needed some parts for my 1986 F150, I was after a gate, bushing, straps, and all new hardware. The selling dealer told me nothing was available and it can't be had. I walked into another dealer and walked out with everything for under $150 the next day. I had to drive 3 hours to get there but they had everything in stock.
Most dealers don't seem to want to bother with older vehicles, having worked in new car dealerships, I can say there was a definite attitude towards older vehicles, both parts and repair wise. Guys in the shop didn't want to work on an old worn out truck, and the parts guys didn't want to bother chasing down hard to locate parts.
Ford does seem to be obsoleting more parts sooner than they did years ago. I find it hard to believe with all the older F150s on the road that they would drop something as common as a tailgate. If not, why don't the aftermarket make an exact replacement gate with the Ford letters? if Ford isn't making it, why not let the aftermarket fill the gap? Do they really think there are more 1987 trucks vs. 1986 models remaining? From a collectible standpoint, I'd say that the 80-86 models will become more popular, they just have a better styling and seem to have a larger following. Not that the 87-91 body style don't have its fans, it seems more prefer the 1980-86 and 1992-96 body styles.
