I have already had that part out of my tailgate, and put it back in when I just recently put the tailgate back on. I'm wondering about how difficult it will be to get the rods/bars, and handle mechanism stuff out. It does not look like I have any access panels. But, it had to go in somehow.

Small world. I used to know and work for the owner of Corning Ford back in the 90's. He is an essentric, so it wouldn't surprise me either. He owns a string of dealerships and manages or managed some big named country musicians as a sideline. Got a bathtub full of demo cassette tapes, so he's not the kind of person to throw stuff away.

Sold it to a mortgage broker in Rancho Cucamonga for 15 grand that had more money than brains, cuz he said he had been looking for another "Muscle Car" to add to his collection.

That Galaxie was no more a Muscle Car than the 1969 Torino 302 4 door sedan he also owned.

Yeah, probably.

You could maybe take one of those Southwest Airlines (or whomever) $100 flights, and check it in as luggage.

It may fit, but will they nevertheless allow it on.

I haven't tried to fly in a while now, but I remember seeing a box on the floor saying "Your luggage must fit in here to be brought on" or something to that effect.

You could bring your clothes & whatever as carryon, the tailgate as checked, and I don't think it'd cost any more (at least with some airlines).

But, there is always how those employees treat things..... I think I'd also want to carry it on....
