In addition to what Toreador_Diesel said.

Since you bought a used modded X like I did, its easy to check if the previous owner studded the truck or if you have stock head studs. If you get a flashlight and look under the intake/airbox you will see the drivers side valve cover. look along the bottom of the valve cover and you will ses the glow plugs and either studs or bolt heads.

Studs have a nut threaded to then and are usually black. The stock bolt head should be grayish.

I was hoping mine was already studded since it came with an exhaust and intake, but its not

Congrats on the new Ex. Looks really clean. Similar reasons for buying my Ex, married, 4 kids, dog. Wife picked out new to us camper last year 34' Wilderness LE. Not exactly Ram 1500 towing material! Plus packed like sardines in the truck. Looking forward to towing it with the Ex to see how it handles. From all the info on this forum, we should both be having smiles on our faces come springtime!

Thanks

There are a few sets on ebay. I paid $485 shipped for a matching spare (wheel, tire, tps sensor) with less than 1000 miles on it this week.

Thanks, Its spent all its life registered in Florida and its cleaner than any of the other trucks i looked at. It needs a few tweaks, but should be perfect by camping season.

small dog or a topper on the truck? i laughed just thinking about adding a dog when we went camping with six of us in the Tundra.

Welcome to the Excursion club. Your bus looks great. Having been through several scary towing situation prior to getting my Excursion I completely understand your reasons for geting the Excursion. Enjoy camping with the crew, and dogs love the Excursion too.

Welcome to the ETE Excursion Forum.
As previously posted above check the wheel spacers and wheel studs before doing Heavy-Duty towing.
You have a very nice truck !

She's down!!! After a week and a half of ownership and 400 miles the truck's heat quit and the dealer found blown head gaskets (stock HG, bolts, tune)

I assume if it was topped off with coolant it would run for another couple hundred miles before showing issues again. I'm not so happy right now, but I'm also getting it upgraded to ARP studs while they are tearing into it which was on my to do list anyway.

i miss my truck, this rental Caravan sucks

Ouch!! But on the bright side you should have no problem towing that toy hauler. My 2000 7.3 with a DP Tuner has no issues towing my 7700 lb 30 ft car hauler. My Sequoia acted just like your Tundra. It was a great suv but not made for towing.

Had a topper on the truck. Did not have a sliding window on the back of the truck so we felt bad there was no contact while she was stuck in the back of the pickup. Did not take her on any long trips because of that. This year there will be plenty of space!

Good luck getting your truck fixed and ready for spring!
